That's good to know, but I'm still not convinced. Maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention, but I can barely recall any 'relevant' new users here from 2017 and newer, whereas from 2012-13 there are plenty of people I can remember, some of which had a considerable impact on the community.

We've had some decent users since 2017. :P

Regardless...

  • When a platform dominates like a PS2/PS4, the discussion becomes less fun. Nothing to argue (as there was during the PS3/360 era ~ graphics/sales)
  • Our sales tracking did face some issues for a bit and many who came here for those numbers simply stopped
  • VGChartz was born when forums were really boomin'! With the uptick of simpler stuff like Twitter, we will, like many other sites, inevitably lose traffic

I really think the best time to judge this will be around the launch of the new systems.

This has impacted not only gaming but other forums too. TBH VGChartz has done well to survive. Three gaming sites I used to visit died. This is the last one I am on and I think it does just fine when a new gen or new news comes out.
