The reality of the situation is simply that right now Epic offers a better deal for developers and publishers compared to Steam, at least when it comes to high profile companies like Xearbox. Whether people like it or not that's just how it is right now. It gets the Epic Store more publicity and significant exclusives, even if they are timed, and it's no different from what companies have been doing in this industry for decades. Unless this starts to significantly impact their sales and profits I doubt much will change in the near future, and if past "gamer boycots" are anything to go by, it won't.
