I'm not saying the discounts are enough to sell gold for the price of silver, but those companies don't have to pay nowhere near to end user prices to get their componets.

To me with a $500 price point and taking some loses (not more than $50 per system in the first year) both Sony and MS can put beasts of consoles in the market.

Look at the XBX, even having to comply to the original XBO it could pack as much power as it did for $500.

Very probably so, but I guess we'll have to wait for Navi to come out to see how efficient (or not) it really is.
