XBox 360 was a monster, considering it was released in Nov 2005; the combo CPU/GPU was mind-blowing, like an High End PC, night and day compared to PS2-GC-XBox. The CPU of 360 was better than anything available on PC in 2005 I think, and the GPU like a High End PC GPU.  This monster Hardware was released only 4 years after the original XBox, it was another ERA.   If you refer to the Combo CPU/GPU, we will never have a similar generational jump; but if we only refer to the CPU, the jump will be massive from PS4 to PS5, really massive.    On the GPU side, we will have a big step forward, but not nearly as close as XBox--->360, that one was insane.

An overclocked Athlon 64 x2 4800+ would likely give than IBM Power PC a good run for it's money... Was all over when Core came out.

The big limitation with the Xbox 360's CPU is that it is an in-order design, much like an Intel Atom, the high thread count does help it out somewhat though.

The GPU is where the Xbox 360 was truly at, Microsoft made all the right choices there and it paid off in spades.

Yep, The 360 CPU has the raw power of about a 2GHz Core 2 Duo or Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.4GHz, not bad for 2005; I didn't remember correctly on the CPU side.  It was a beast anyway, I couldn't believe when it came out in 2005, what a hardware package into a Console.
