I'm surprised that anyone who has been following video games sales could deny the selling power of Kinect. I hated the thing but no way would 360 reach the status of 40 million plus in USA without it.

A lot of people like FPS games like Halo and Call of Duty.  It also got some games earlier than PS3 like Minecraft.  Most importantly it was usually cheaper than the PS3.  You could get almost all the games the PS3 had but on a cheaper console.  Really in generation 7 Microsoft was doing everything right and Sony was doing everything wrong.  That was the way that people in USA saw it.  They didn't need Kinect it at all, and it also hurt them a ton in generation 8.

Really I'm surprised that people following video games considers Kinect a "craze".  It was so obviously a detriment to the XB1.  Also I live in the USA, and talk with lots of people in RL about video games, and Kinect was never a craze.  Wii?  Yes a craze.  I know lots of people who played Wii.  I also find people who will tell me how great Halo or Call of Duty are without me bringing it up.  There is a craze about these games and the XBox360 in general.  I still find people who like to play XBox360.  They don't like it for Kinect.  Kinect was never a craze.  If you want to know the cause for sales, it helps to actually talk to real people.  Kinect is not the reason.
