I see what you are saying and I agree that obviously longer on market it will have more games, but this is the observed issue that has been going on since Wii even.

This may be Australia only though, but like the PS section is always 3-4 sections long of shelving, each week there will be a new game or 3 in the just released section, Nintendo sections never grow beyond one in its life time. So clearly something is screwed here. Maybe its distribution, maybe we don't get all the PAL releases, maybe Nintendo to tight to pay for more shelf space, I don't know. It just always feels like Nintendo has nothing in store to buy that you haven't bought already.

Problem with your Wii comparison is that NS is a hybrid so you have to factor in their portable support as well and that itself has factored into helping the platform's success leading to improved support over prior home platforms, you can observe Wii but then you also have to observe 3DS and all as well.
