I personally think that The Last of Us has a great story despite the fact that I don't view it as very innovative.

But no points reduced on review because of it...

Because it's not a central component of the game. TLOU for example doesn't lose points for not having challenging and clever problem solving/puzzles because this isn't a core component of that game.
