I can say it's worse hardware than the DS as its central gimmick (3D) was ultimately unwanted while DS's big new feature (dual screen) was generally liked.

Also one analogue input wasn't a huge problem for a portable in 2005, but for a portable in 2011 is was a terrible mistake. 

DS was well designed hardware in its time while 3DS was badly designed in its time.

Since when did DS have an analog pad?
