Evolutionarywise it does not really matter if species go extinct, there have been much worse massextinctions before and the lifeforms remaining will evolve into new beings or we could also say they mutate into the next phase.
Minimising the suffering of animals should be the focus, death is just the peace at the end.

Animals can be damn "unknowingly" cruell to other animals,my cats frequentlly bring in a mouse to play with and they keep clawing it around without granting it a fast passing so this week i was in time to get hold of one that was still alive and while i looked at it i noticed it was still a young and well fed mouse and it had such an innocence surrounding it and it was in a state of shock so i did put him to rest in a plantterrarium and put it somewhere warm so it could still have a bit of peace before dieing, 5 mins later it prob died to internal bleedings but it made me thinking about how  that mouse was just a toy for something bigger and its tormenter and murderer is an animal that behaves like the cutest thing on the planet to me.

I am also still feeling emotional for that little critter,it brought tears to my eyes lol .
