1. Its all about how things are worded and intent. There is a difference between explaining why things happen and downplaying. Saying that Sony did a good job because they spread out big releases better through the year and that they retain the peak year is not downplaying and nobody has every used the phrase "wide mainstream appeal" when talking about Wii, they say "casual" which more times than not is used in a derogatory way on forums.

2. I never accused you of anything, I never even mentioned you. I pointed out that post to show what actual downplaying is. The example you gave was not downplaying, it was a rational post that can lead to healthy discussion while the example I gave was trolling/flamebait. Two completely different things.

But you're right, every fanbase has people going around downplaying the others. I remember those PortStation threads too.

1. Forget Wii then. People claiming that Switch only came out on top in 2018 in NA because it had Smash and Pokémon is very similar to people claiming that PS4 only came out on top in 2015 because it had great releases. But whatever.

2. Sorry. English is not my first language. I read "you" as if I had recent posts: "On the other hand you have recent posts in that same thread".

1. Like I said, it's about wording and intent. The example you used didnt say "PS4 only won because it had more big releases", they said "the poorly paced released schedule for Switch did them in" and finished with "well done Sony".

The wording and intent of that post are clearly not meant as any form of downplaying and are basically saying Nintendo should have down what Sony did, provide bigger releases throughout the year. They are giving credit where credit is due.

2. No problem, I see how that could be a bit confusing.
