Here's how I would put it:

Persona 5 was pretty to look at, very stylish and had incredible music that actually made newcomers interested.

MHW had the whole new direction hype going for it, it was finally going back to consoles and had the main selling factor which was multiplayer online. It also created interest for new players.

FFXV looked promising and had a lot of hype built up to it.

KH grew its fanbase in its long main game hiatus with spin offs and word of mouth.

While I loved DQ XI it was very bare bones compared to the rest of these. The combat in KH, MH and FF attracted people because it was very action based. Persona was turn based but it was flashy and unique with it which made turn based look more fun.
