@TalonMan

Hi Talon,

This is a topic that has concerned me and a few other for some time. It's about the way polling is done here on VGC. I believe the polling system as it is now is flawed- and could be improved. An example of this is what transpired in the "Greatest Developer of 2018" competition (not the actual name but best I recollect). The poll was by large tampered with by anonymous voters (lurkers) and it turned out that results were skewed heavily towards a certain platform. This of course in response to an expected result since a large part of the userbase are Nintendo oriented. To see how easy it is to do it without an account, I tried out the TOR browser and not to my surprise I found out it was extremely easy to put a few votes in instead of just one vote.

My suggestion to solve this issue: Make it user ID based.

Why? Because why even let lurkers vote? If a poll like "Game of the year" is meant to be a choice of the VGC community, why should lurkers have a voice in that? Wouldn't you agree that it would actually be an incentive to let lurkers join the site to give them the ability to vote? I just think the polling should be a VGC community activity only.

Thank you for your time and look forward to your input.
