Edit: brawl did 2.7mil first month (6th best US launch). GoW and Spiderman did 1.9mil and 2.6mil respectively

When you say "first month", do they track the entire first month, or is it like launch week sales where it's simply the sales of the days left in the month? Because Halo 3 sold 3.3 mil in like 5-6 days if the 2nd statement is the benchmark. 

It is within the month. So if something launches earlier in the month it has an advantage over something that launches later in the month.
