Yes and no, it depends on the game. But in most cases, I'd rather have good PP effects than a high resolution. Lighting, design and direction counts more as far as I'm concerned, even for games with higher graphical focus. It's kinda painful to play many modern games with low resolutions once you're used to higher ones though (I play my games in 1440p most of the time). Kinda like it's a bit of a drag to watch DVD's when you have 4k blu-ray.
