Mostly for visual reasons, Crysis is a major downgrade on console. At best they were viable ways to experience the trilogy, kinda like Doom 3 and Half Life 2 on Xbox.

The problem with remasters is EA doesn't really do them, Burnout Paradise might have been their first. It might be something they consider more given they're struggling a bit at the moment.

People want a Crysis trilogy on current gen, they should be able to handle the trilogy at max graphics settings. Maybe even 60 fps on mid gen upgrades. The assets aged well, above average graphics.

Crysis 1... I.E. The PC version would probably be interesting to see ported to the current consoles.
It's notorious for being a CPU hog on just a couple threads... I.E. Everything that Jaguar isn't.

CryEngine 3 was used for the console port of Crysis, the same engine that was used for Crysis 2 and 3. Hence, they used the engine that was optimized for consoles, CPUs with more cores, etc.

I'm no expert but I assume they were able to transfer the game code and make tweaks so the game would be less resource intensive, but made some visual improvements as well due to new features in the engine. Hence, it makes sense to stick with the more modern engine given it fixed the hardware issue you're referring to.

If anything, its a shame they weren't developing Crysis 1 on CryEngine 3 for PC as well. It would have generated more money for them, would run better and that could have been the version ideal for a future console port.
