I wouldn't worry. RDR2 has nothing on the game play design of BotW. The attention to detail is astounding in RDR2 yet the game play so far is the same old. Control wise BotW also works much better. They are two very different games.

You can better compare it to Horizon zero dawn. RDR2 might be better than that, except for now the clunky controls and not so good HDR use are holding it back a bit. For world design it easily beats HZD, of course weapons and enemies are kinda limited due to the setting.

I haven't played AC odyssey, that should be a better comparison. Both trying to be semi realistic 'limited' by accurately representing a time period.

Can't wait to play more. I need to head back to camp as apparently my weapons are on my horse there.

Also majorly, the uses of a physic engine that changes all the dynamics of how you explore the world and combat your enemies.

To be honest, comparing these 2 games isn't a worthwhile venture since you can point out so many things that are just not the same by design.

Case in point, the tutorial section's of both.

All are quite different indeed.

Botw: Smaller play area you get dumped in immediately with lot of fun things to find and do while learning the core mechanics. At first you don't even realize you're in a restricted area, then your mind gets blown when you get to the real world.
RDR2: 2 to 3 hour linear mission that fails when you leave the path. (you get to chose whether you want to do hunt or assault first)
HZD: Shorter linear mission to dump you in a restricted area. Takes 10 hours for the game to open up and get good.
Spiderman: Short linear mission with vertical learning curve, not the best idea. But damn those controls are polished to perfection.

Really. all 4 are amazing to play and if anything stands out as falling behind it would be Tomb raider. I don't feel like picking that up anymore at all after starting RDR2.
