Gaming has always had a surprisingly large female presence. Even in the 90s and early 2000s you had Samus, amaterasu, Laura Croft, Claire redfield, Terra, important secondary characters like Meryl from mgs, Cortana from halo and countless characters from games with large casts like RPGs and fighters. The only difference is now you have a ton of whiny anti sjws that complain everytime something doesn't cater specifically to them.
