Funny because AC2 was everything that Assassin's Creed wanted to do but couldn't do right and then some.

Do yourself a favour and play AC2. But if you care for complex and intricate core mechanics the series isn't for you. Its more for the immersion, lore, soundtrack.

Funny because AC2 is where the games become amazing. The recent games are mechanically sound but aren't all that immersive and you wouldn't understand my point till you play AC2 and Brotherhood and then move to Origins.

Interesting, it was quite the opposite for me - I liked original game quite a bit, despite its many flaws, it was very immersive an you had to play like assassin and hide and run away and pick your fights wisely. In AC2 I could pretty much slash my way through almost anything, which really killed it for me - I've finished it, but had to put mental effort to do it.

Fell for Black Flag due to theme, didn't like it one bit, since i enjoy proper age of sails games, and ship combat in Black Flag was just plain terrible.

Fell again for Origins due to Egypt...mostly pitied all those artist that made such an amazing world, just to be fucked up by awfully repetitive and pointless gameplay.

AC2 had horrible combat so I preferred to run away from enemies xD

I can understand, Black Flag had fun but shallow ship combat and I'm surprised that nobody points that when talking of Black Flag. But like I said its fun. What I didn't like was the grindy economy and the worst assassin missions in the series.

I thought Origins gameplay was alright but it felt like a B rate WRPG.

AC3 was terrible, you could tell it was the B team.
Black Flag was great, but as suggested should have taken out the assassins creed bits and just been a pirate game.
Last one was not bad but didnt play for all that long, need to get back to it at some point.

AC3 was made by AC2 team.

You could change "Assassin's Creed" with "God of War" and change "Ubisoft" with "Santa Monica" and this would still be surprisingly coherent.

I understand your point, but you're wrong. God of War changed into an A rate RPG with better combat than any other RPG game. It was industry leading in its cinematic approach with its uncut shots. It didn't forget its heritage but built upon it.

Assassin's Creed has become a B rate RPG. Its got decent combat for an RPG but there are tons better than it in terms of combat. The series initially revolved around stealth and Origins strayed completely away from it hence forgetting what it was. Odyssey isn't even a story of assassins. AC 4 and Rogue were pirate games. The series is all around the place much like Need For Speed and while that doesn't mean every game in the series is bad it doesn't have an identity.

Also, God of War never had a bad game. Ascension was the worst and it was still alright. Assassin's Creed though has had tons of bad games. Revelations, Bloodlines, Liberation, Unity at release, were all bad.
