PS3's combination of a weird processor, and launching at $500 to $600 did untold amounts of damage to their ecosystem. Games go multiplatform when they think they can't make enough money off a single console's sales. And that is determined by how well a console sells. 

Incorrect as games were going multiple well before the PS3 launched. In fact, almost all of the big PS2 games were multiplatform.
