42% isn't a high approval rating, it's just a cherry picked point where for one stretch Trump measures comparably to other presidents, lol.
42% means more than half the country disapproves of your job performance. It's a failing grade. The fact that 42% is the best he can muster with a relatively decent economy handed to him means that if/when the economy ever downticks or the impacts of his massive deficet spending kicks in, he's going to drop into the 30% range. Which is horrendous.
