How many PS3s were sold at $100.00 or less off its initial MSRP? From what I understand the bulk of its sales were after massive price drops which the PS4 hasn't had up till yet.

Those massive price cuts were to get it into the price range that PS4 is currently in.

At this point in PS3 life it was 29,980 yen vs PS4 at 34,980 yen, not a massive difference.
