That would make 3 years, which is pretty standard time in game development. Splatoon 2 released only 2 years after the first one, that is not what I call franchise fatigue lol.

Yokai Watch released in 2013, YW2 in 2014, YW3 in 2016 and the 4th one in 2018. That is what I call milking. My suggestion does not imply this kind of overproduction.

I wouldn't mind seeing the base game Splatoon 2 getting updated for a bit longer and get a spin-off of the franchise instead of a sequel just yet. I feel like there is more they can do with the franchise they haven't tapped into yet.
