2 years isn't too late. And is new super Mario bros no longer considered big? Even after 2 years though people were predicting it would sell a hell of a lot better then it did when most of the big titles actually came.
To act like we all knew it was doomed is revisionist. Myself and others were ridiculed by the Nintendo faithful for claiming it was though.
