OT: I think Microsoft might actually win this one for me. To be fair most of them listening to their fans is because of how bad they screwed things up to start with, but they still do make changes that fans want more often than the others. Unless Sony/Nintendo are planning on adding backwards compatibility soon... nope, didn't think so. |
The DS was region free indeed, but from a home console point of view none of their systems are, SNES even has a different shape of cart in US/EU region requiring additional hardware to play games imported for it. Gamecube requires a freeloader etc, but on the Switch I've got 3 accounts for each region and it happily lets me play games bought from any account on my system.
