God of War will have a positive effect on hack and slash game sales

I doubt that it will because the new GoW isn't a hack 'n slash. It's not representative of that genre at all. If someone plays GoW (2018) then plays the old GoW or DMC expecting something similar, they'll be sorely disappointed. It's an action rpg if anything.
