But it carries the name. People know the name. The series has a reputation that we're not about to forget any time soon. That reputation will make people not care about it and avoid it.

The series has a reputation of being great games. I don't know why you think it has a "too violent reputation" issue. Most people who don't like violence most likely don't know the series at all anyway. And violence is pretty much in every western AAA nowadays. The executions in TLOU are very close to the ones in GoW (but on humans, even worse IMO), and nobody put a "way too violent" sticker on it.

 

And I'm not sure that "most people don't care about mythology". Tell them that it's about Odin, Thor, magical weapons forged by dwarves and the Bifrost, and you have already a huge Marvel crowd ready to learn more. Lots of people like mythology, and the Scandinavian one has a reputation as good as the Greek one.
