Well yeah because a game pushing like 8,000,000 sales across 2 platforms and released WW IIRC is the same as a Japanese only game selling 300k :)
Also, it doesn’t have shit to do with where they come from, it’s the style and gameplay of the games. Not everyone separates genres geographically. To me, JRPG is a genre, and there are plenty of JRPGs made outside of Japan. And plenty of Japanese studios have made western styled games. Hell, Capcom “westernized” Monster Hunter to get those sales you’re going on about and it worked for them. Dark Souls is an RPG made in Japan, would you call it a JRPG? I wouldn’t. You’re welcome to disagree. Since you’re quoting my thoughts in your post, now you know where I come from with it. I enjoy lots of games from Japan. The quirky JRPG stuff people rave about on here in system warz are not ones I enjoy, otherwise I’d probably still be primarily PS gamer, like I was when I was a teenager and enjoyed those games.
And it’s great that you enjoyed Persona. More power to you. No thanks, though.
