Kyuu said: Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but was it not Sony who assigned Insomniac of all developers -including their own- for the making of Spider-Man? I'm pretty sure they will consider acquiring them not long after the game is out. A lot of people hate to admit it, but Sony is the force that kept Insomniac afloat. Without their strong relationship throughout, Insomniac may have gone bankrupt or regressed to a small studio. All it takes is a few commercial failures like Fuse and, arguably, Sunset Overdrive. Publishers' interest in Insomniac will only skyrocket if Spider-Man becomes a huge franchise. But then, Insomniac will owe it to Sony for continuing to recognize their talents and entrusting them with such a big project. |
I don't really agree with this. How many publishers these days publish original externally developed titles?? EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and Take Two don't. I think Bethesda does, but I've heard terrible things about partnerships with them. Besides, anyone who publishes will want IP rights which Insomniac is reluctant to give up (see: Sunset Overdrive).
The only company I see them leaving Sony for is Microsoft.
