Are we talking about Sony Corp, or Sony Gaming.
If it is Corp, it was mismanagement of resources that did not take advantage of the music catalog they have/had in the birth 2000 digital age, which allowed Apple Corp to basically control digital distribution of audio.
If it is Sony Gaming, the design of the PS3 that caused them to lose billions, that was made previous consoles.
