Nope. 

Currently the Democrat running in the special election for my house district is against an "assault weapons" ban.

As long as there are gun-control wary Democrats (and people to vote them in office) gun control (at the level advocates want) isn't happening. 

My suspicions of what is going to get through either next week or the week after that? Background check reform, but not universal background checks (unless there is a bill that allows private sellers free-access to the system.) 

The NRA is bolstered by their influence on gun-rights voters, not by giveaways provided to them by for-profit corporations. 

Young teenagers can't (and older ones don't) vote, and will forget about this when they can and do.
