It's also beneficial that this happened during the console's first year because that meant that the number of games with discounts was rather small for most of the year and anything that went on sale drew more attention. This is why so many people seem to own Snake Pass.

Puyo Puyo Tetris also has a demo, so people already knew what they were buying.
