It obviously has, wich is why theres no reason to reset the generation early for them (or anyone. The later years of the generation is the time to make the most sales in software). A pro 2 might make more sense.

Think about it aswell. Sony studios would need to have started development in ps5 games already. Theres just no way. If gens become this fast with game development becoming longer, each team will only manage to release 2 games per gen. 

That's why they're sticking now with familiar architecture. PS5 will have the same so game development can begin long before the final specs are known. BTW that's how it's always done. PS4 games were made before developers knew what kind of specs the final console will have.

Gens are an outdated model and the only thing that's against that model is platform holder's profit margin. Because after all we know it's not enough to make some money, you have to make all of the money...
