Already addressed... both those games were always explicitly announced for 2017 and they had gameplay to show from the very start. You don't do a 50-second teaser with no gameplay and no release window for a game you're gonna release within a year, that... simply doesn't happen. I think if you go back to Metroid Prime 4 and say it comes out in 2018 despite also having the same kind of teaser, that I can even accept as a valid belief because back in E3 Nintendo had loads of games coming in the near future. But that isn't the case here, we know barely anything about the Switch's 2018 line-up, and had they announced Bayonetta 3 for 2018 at the Game Awards it'd only be 11 months away at worst. There's no reason they wouldn't at least tease a 2018 release if they believed in it, and also show no gameplay or anything. Edit: also I'll be the first to admit I never once believed Xenoblade 2 was coming out in 2017. It having made it is quite impressive, but still it was a game they already announced with gameplay and were always adamant in saying it came out that year. |
Mario had like a 5 second teaser in the Switch reveal. People said, "looks like a 3D world style game". They were wrong.
After seeing more about it, "this is getting delayed". Again, wrong.
Xenoblade 2 was also thought to not be released due to lack of footage until late into the year...well that was wrong too.
Based on Nintendo's patern with game reveals and release windows on the Switch, it is foolish to say that there is no way it is coming in 2018. Even unlikely is no more of a wild guess than saying it is def coming 2018.
If at E3 we still see no gameplay or release window, then we can safely say that it will come in 2019. Right now, it is literally a crap shoot of a debate.
