Part two of today's news:

Sea of Thieves' new video teaches you how to become a pirate
http://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-new-video-teaches-you-how-to-become-a-pirate/
Sea of Thieves, Rare’s multiplayer pirate romp, won’t be out until March, but the devs are betting that you’ll want to know what you’ll actually be able to do in its nautical world before it launches. The latest video cuts off a vertical slice, showing off the game’s trading companies (the factions you’ll be doing quests for), missions and multiplayer shenanigans.

PUBG will add map selection sometime after its launch from Early Access
http://www.pcgamer.com/pubg-will-add-map-selection-sometime-after-its-launch-from-early-access/
With Playerunknown's Battlegrounds exit from Early Access coming in just a few days, changes and tweaks are still underway on the test server, which is hosting 1.0's new desert map, Miramar. If you've been playing—and a lot of you have, seeing as how PUBG's test servers are the 5th most played game on Steam—you may be happy to learn that sometime after launch you'll be able to choose which map you play on when you join a PUBG server.

Fortnite Battle Royale adds a new 'Battle Pass' for season two
http://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-battle-royale-adds-a-new-battle-pass-for-season-two/
The second season of Fortnite Battle Royale is now underway, with a new Battle Pass that provides immediate access to cosmetic loot is now available for purchase. The pass goes for 950 Vbucks and is tiered, meaning that it will unlock some items immediately, but must be leveled up for others.

Verdun's Christmas Truce DLC returns next week
http://www.pcgamer.com/verduns-christmas-truce-dlc-returns-next-week/
The 1914 Christmas Truce is once again returning to the First World War multiplayer Verdun in the form of time-limited DLC that will raise funds for War Child's Armistice, "an annual event that encourages peaceful gameplay to support children affected by conflict across the world." The DLC will reenact the events of the famous, tragically brief truce that saw French, German, and British soldiers come together to exchange gifts, take part in joint burial ceremonies and prisoner swaps, and even play a little soccer.

Whimsical sandbox My Time At Portia is due out on early access in January
http://www.pcgamer.com/whimsical-sandbox-my-time-at-portia-is-due-out-on-early-access-in-january/
My Time At Portia is a breezy, whimsical crafting sandbox that calls to mind the likes of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. It’s idyllic and bright and I want to start building my workshop there right now, escaping the chilly Scottish winter I’m trapped in. Unfortunately, like the rest of you, I’ll need to wait until January 23, when the game launches on early access. In the meantime, we’ll have to content ourselves with a new, but brief, trailer.

Bomber Crew gets Secret Weapons DLC, a season pass, and a free Winter Update
http://www.pcgamer.com/bomber-crew-gets-secret-weapons-dlc-a-season-pass-and-a-free-winter-update/
Bomber Crew, the FTL-esque take on the air war over Europe, got a new DLC pack today called Secret Weapons that includes a new "mini-campaign," with new bomber upgrades, enemy aces, and dangerous enemy fighters. The campaign will take players through missions based on Big Week, a real-world operation that took place in early 1944 in which the US Air Force undertook an aggressive campaign to force the Luftwaffe to engage in direct, decisive combat.

Mount Your Friends sequel will deliver 3D dongs next year, and here's the trailer to prove it
http://www.pcgamer.com/mount-your-friends-sequel-will-deliver-3d-dongs-next-year-and-heres-the-trailer-to-prove-it/
It's as if Daniel Steger, the designer of Mount Your Friends, saw those overly snug underpants in PUBG and said, "Hold my beer."
Mount Your Friends, released in 2014, was a gleefully silly multiplayer game about muscular pinheads clambering over each other in speedos with their physics-enabled wangs wobbling about. It's just had a sequel announced, called Mount Your Friends 3D: A Hard Man is Good to Climb. It looks every bit as ridiculous and, yes, it still has huge flappy wiggling dongs in it.

Tokyo 42 update aims to fix troublesome camera without actually changing the camera at all
http://www.pcgamer.com/tokyo-42-update-aims-to-fix-troublesome-camera-without-actually-changing-the-camera/
Andy's biggest problem with gorgeous open-world shooter Tokyo 42 was its camera: as he wrote in his review, the isometric perspective combined with the 45-degree rotation increments (you hit Q and E to move it this way and that) means you occasionally lose your character in the city sprawl. A new update for the game aims to address that, but the camera itself isn't changing. Instead, you can now see both your own silhouette and silhouettes of enemies through buildings and objects.

Galactic Civilizations 3 update improves AI and slashes load times
http://www.pcgamer.com/galactic-civilizations-3-update-improves-ai-and-slashes-load-times/
Galactic Civilizations 3, the sprawling 4X space strategy game, is more than two years old but it's still getting regular updates. In the summer it got an expansion, Crusade, with a new campaign, and in September the UI and economy improvements from Crusade were integrated into the base game. A new update out this week improves the AI, slashes load times, and fixes a host of annoying crashes during the end game and multiplayer matches.

Night in the Woods director's cut out now, adds two extra side stories
http://www.pcgamer.com/night-in-the-woods-directors-cut-out-now-comes-with-two-extra-side-stories/
Weird Autumn is story-driven adventure game Night in the Wood's version of a director's cut: it's a free update that adds new dialogue, extra activities and a couple of fresh faces to meet. It also ushers in two supplementary side stories, Longest Night and Lost Constellation, both standalone (if short) games in their own right. They were released on their own during Night in the Wood's development, but now they're integrated into the main game's world.

Friday the 13th adding offline mode with bots and raising the level cap
http://www.pcgamer.com/friday-the-13th-adding-offline-mode-with-bots-and-raising-the-level-cap/
Friday the 13th's asymmetrical multiplayer horror was made to play with friends, or at least with strangers that have mics and are willing to work together. But developer IllFonic is betting that players will want to muck around solo sometimes, and are adding a new offline game mode with bots tomorrow.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive might be getting a PUBG-style battle royale mode
http://www.pcgamer.com/counter-strike-global-offensive-might-be-getting-a-pubg-style-battle-royale-mode/
As you might have noticed, the battle royale genre is as popular now as it's ever been. Games like PUBG, Fortnite and H1Z1 have struck a chord with players, and a number of other games now include their own interpretations of the genre—not least GTA Online and Ark: Survival Evolved. Now, it appears Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is next in line for the battle royale treatment.

http://www.pcgamer.com/planet-coaster-launches-adventure-pack-update-with-hundreds-of-new-items/
Planet Coaster celebrated its one year anniversary last month with new rides, a scenario editor and a Staff Management building. Now, its Adventure Pack update adds a further three rides and a number of cosmetic additions—not least over 320 scenery items.

Need for Speed Payback adds new cars and events in free Speedcross update
http://www.pcgamer.com/need-for-speed-payback-adds-new-cars-and-events-in-free-speedcross-update/
In his middling review, Phil Iwaniuk praised Need For Speed Payback's "enjoyable arcade handling", but criticised its scope to become "monotonous long before it rewards your time investment." The racer's latest complimentary update arrives tomorrow, and hopes to give players more bang for their buck with a new event series and new cars.

Latest Monster Hunter: World trailer shows how you customise your feline companions
http://www.pcgamer.com/latest-monster-hunter-world-trailer-shows-how-you-customise-your-feline-companions/
In Monster Hunter: World you'll be slaying nasties alongside a cute companion called a Palico. They're essentially feline assistants that will help you out during battles and quests, and given that they're constantly at your side you'll probably want to make them your own. Thankfully, a new trailer suggests that the customisation options for your Palicos will be pretty robust.

Monster Hunter: World's story campaign will last 40-50 hours
http://www.pcgamer.com/monster-hunter-worlds-story-campaign-will-last-40-50-hours/
The Monster Hunter series is poised to make its western PC debut with Monster Hunter: World next year, which is something Steven and Austin seem pretty pleased about. Last week, we learned that Capcom plans to add new beasts over time via free updates, and now it appears its core story campaign will last somewhere in the vicinity of 40-50 hours.
