I went with a Samsung that I love... given you plan to game on it I suggest looking up the latest table of input lags for each TV; that's actually a major reason I went with a Samsung.
Also, I'd recommend at least 50 inches as once you get under a certain size, especially if you're sitting a distance away, the visuals really aren't worth the extra cost as of yet. On a bigger screen, though, they really pop.
