I don't really see your argument ... Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot, Dragon Quest, Simpsons, Lego Starwars, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sonic, Dragon Ball Z, Everybody's Golf and so on are all multi-million selling games with a very similar cartoon style to Mario ... Had Mario (or any Nintendo property) been released for the Playstation it would have been one of the top selling games. People bought the Playstation for other games, they didn't "avoid buying the Gamecube/N64 because it had Mario on it" ... The fact of the matter is the Wii will likely have more games released for it meaning it will have more "other games" that attract users than the PS3 will have |
Question 1: How many PS2 owners also own a GBA/DS and a Mario game?
Question 2: How quickly would Sony fanboys have raised the roof if Nintendo had gone software-only and declared Mario a Sony exclusive franchise?
Question 3: There are 120+ million PS2s out there. The best selling franchise (GTA) sold upwards of 13 million copies each, barely a 10% attach rate. The other top franchises were Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts (could be lumped in with FF), MGS, Madden and Jax and Dexter. The rest of the million-selling games ranges from RE4 to Crash Bandicoot. So... what exactly is a typical PS gamer?
