Do players of general shooters have issue with Splatoon?

I play FPS' a lot. About 50% of my gaming time is spent with the genre. I picked up Splatoon 2, and don't really like it. I have no problem with it, but it hasn't hooked me. I'm not sure what I don't care for. It may be the third person perspective (I don't usually play TPS games), but I don't feel like thats it.....
