did you travel with Freccia Rossa or Italo ? Those are the main high speed lines but they are more expensive which isn't the best for a group of friends

Mostly Freccia Rossa, Intercity once and the rest were regional trains. Never heard about Italo before honestly.

They were very affordable and quick. Certainly cheaper than Deutsche Bahn.

Milan - Turin : Freccia Rossa 14€ per person
Rome - Florence : Freccia Rossa 22€ per person
Florence - Pisa : Regional train 8.40€ per person
Florence - Venice : Intercity 28.50€ per person
Venice - Bologna : Freccia Rossa 19€ per person
Bologna - Rimini: Regional train 9.50€ per person

In Germany the lowest fare for the high speed train is 19€, but most of the time you can't find anything below 29€.
