I don't understand why people are starting to hate on the Witcher 3 now .... "i'm talking about true RPGs, not stuff like Witcher" ... are you serious? The Witcher series is the most heavily RPG oriented triple A game series in a long time. I guess this is just what happens when series become more popular, more detractors come along.

Anyways, it's kind of your own problem for having such specific examples of what an RPG should be. I'll admit, I think a big problem with the RPG genre is that RPG games are becoming more like action games with RPG elements, rather than the other way around. Doesn't mean I don't want Action RPGs, Western RPGs, etc. You pretty much are excluding anything that doesn't have a linear story, text prompts for battle, and open world RPGs. If you exclude things that are specifically popular right now ... you are not going to enjoy new popular games. Simple as that. Now I agree that some of the things you mentioned are problems. I don't like that so many open world rpgs ruin their story. Doesn't mean i'm against the concept or it can't be done well. This year has been pretty ok for Japanese RPGs, pick one of those up.

Are you just against WRPGs as a whole?

Also ... "no patches like Skyrim"? What do you mean by that.

I'm not hating on Witched 3, friend. It's just that it's an action RPG. It's fine if you prefer action RPGs over traditional ones. It's just that there are almost nothing but action RPGs now. I'm fine with old school western RPGs like Wizardry and the first two Might and Magics, I just don't want action combat in RPGs. As for Skyrim, it needed patch after patch to make it playable, at least on PS3.
