Remember when every Final Fantasy game was a new world and new story? Then Final Fantasy 7 came along and they milked that cow to death. Why not make a new series and set of sequels? Because the name = $$ and they can just slap it on anything and add some chocobos and you got a Final Fantasy. Sorry to rant, just pissed off that Sakaguchi is making mobile games while Square Enix has been making mediocre games for the last 16 years.

Pretty sure that 8, 9 & even 10 (despite the poor attempts to relate it to the world of 7) all had new worlds and stories. Sure, 7 was the start of the revisiting worlds and milking it to death trend. But it certainly didn't prevent them from making new worlds.

Actually, I'm kind of surprised they left the world of FF9 a standalone. There was a lot there they could have used for spinoff/sequels/movies or whatever else, yet it seems to be one of the more overlooked FFs. Too bad as well, since it was such a fantastic game and world to explore.

100% agree with your last sentence though. Really sucks how bad Square Enix is compared to what Squaresoft was. And the decline of Sakaguchi's career really is disappointing.

Yes sorry, 8 and 9 were new worlds and didnt have sequels and they didnt need them, so I appreciate that. I liked 12 for the most part but I had no idea what was going on in that game? Was it becuase I never played Tactics or jus bad storytelling? Anyway, that's why I would rather have a new game with a new setting everytime.
