Tourism is not a huge factor for the economy and it is already in huge decline for the last few years anyways. This won't change much for the people but Erdogan will keep his position for the rest of his life. Actually, the more suffering there is, more votes go to Erdogan so the economy getting worse works for him.

13.7% of GDP in 2015 is "not a huge factor"?
Already declined to 12.5% in 2016 and probably even more this year.

When you factor in the unemployment due to the decline in visitors etc., it is a big factor indeed, that was a shortsighted comment. You are correct, sorry about that.

But I rather meant that when all the economy is  in the shitter, decline in tourism is one of the last things to worry about. It would be bounced back in a year when the country is cleansed of its problems. At it is right now, the country produces nothing really worthwhile and importing is at an all time high. This is not sustainable and actually the main problem.
