I agree completely. Uncharted hit that sweet spot between arcade action and scripted set-pieces. That balance was lost in Uncharted 3 and 4. I do encourage you to finish Uncharted 4, though. After Chapter 17 it gets a lot better. Far fewer scripted events and cut-scenes and a lot more improvisational combat. |
Yes it does, that's where I started disliking the game and don't want to play it again having to go through all that at the end again. To each their own. I enjoyed the exploration and stealth sections the most in U4.
At least I enjoyed the cut scenes in U4. They were drawn out in rottr so I skipped them. GTA 5 trying to be funny, too slow delivery, skip. FC4 the worst, lengthy and unskippable. I switched inputs to watch TV while the game was rambling on. Long live rumble notifying me when I had control back.
Characters talking or briefing while you're already on a mission works fine. Or like HL2 where you can still walk aroound a pick up stuff while they're talking. It's annoying when they restrict your movement speed during talky sections though. And in RE7 you also can't open doors while talking. Uncharted 4 does enroute briefing / talking very well, continueing the conversation when you return. It's a bit of a mix of everything unfortunately, something for everyone to like and dislike.
