Last year, The Chinese Room released a console version of its flagship non-combat exploration game Dear Esther—named the Landmark Edition—and suggested it would one day land on PC. It's now doing exactly that, the developer has revealed, and will be completely free-of-charge to owners of the original on Steam as of 6pm GMT/10am PT tomorrow.

JUDGE DREDD AND OTHER 2000 AD CHARACTERS CAN NOW BE LICENSED BY NEW DEVELOPERS
http://www.pcgamer.com/judge-dredd-and-other-2000-ad-characters-can-now-be-licensed-by-new-developers/
2000AD is far better known in the UK than it is in the US, but a few of its stars—particularly Judge Dredd—have made something of a splash over here. That's a situation that publisher Rebellion is apparently looking to change and capitalize on. As reported by Bleeding Cool, co-founder Jason Kingsley said at the company's recent 40th anniversary event that it will begin licensing its library of characters to other game developers.

>>Wait! There's a comic superhero called Strontium Dog? And he's a man, and not a ... well, dog? o.O

http://www.pcgamer.com/work-on-remastered-bards-tale-trilogy-has-reportedly-stopped/
One of the backer rewards for the 2015 Kickstarter for The Bard's Tale 4 was the original Bard's Tale trilogy—Bard's Tale, Destiny Knight, Thief of Fate—updated for modern machines by Olde Skuul, the studio founded by Bard's Tale 3 programmer and designer Rebecca Heineman. But a recent status update posted on inXile's forums says that plan has been put on hold, because Old Skuul has stopped working on it and doesn't seem likely to resume.

HALO WARS 2 PHYSICAL RELEASES CANCELED IN NORTH AMERICA
http://www.pcgamer.com/halo-wars-2-physical-releases-canceled-in-north-america/
THQ Nordic announced in January that it had struck a deal with Microsoft to release a swanky boxed edition of the upcoming Halo Wars 2. Two of them, actually: a standard release and an "Ultimate" edition, with the season pass and the "enhanced" Halo Wars: Definitive Edition included. But it recently came to light that the plan has changed somewhat, and that North American gamers won't be able to get their hands on them unless they order from overseas.

>>Reading the article, it's because MSoft has decided to cancel the physical edition in NA, not the new THQ.

WALK A WIENER DOG AS A WIENER IN THE TWO-PLAYER GENITAL JOUSTING UPDATE
http://www.pcgamer.com/walk-a-wiener-dog-as-a-wiener-in-the-two-player-focused-genital-jousting-update/
I'm not sure about you, but I don't know many people willing to play competitive party games featuring cutesy, colorful disembodied penises. And playing Genital Jousting solo might get the job done, it's just not the same, you know?

PHANTOM HALLS IS A STYLISH SQUAD-BASED SHOOTER THAT COMBINES WORMS WITH SPELUNKY
http://www.pcgamer.com/phantom-halls-is-a-stylish-squad-based-shooter-that-combines-worms-with-spelunky/
If a game cites Spelunky as an influence, I'm bound to be interested. If it throws Worms into that mix, then I'm likely to be very intrigued. Against its lovely-looking 3D papercraft aesthetic, Phantom Halls bills itself as an "action-packed survival adventure" whose squad-based makeup and multi-functioning characters promises just that. "It's a real-time Worms with the procedurally generated chaos of Spelunky," says developer Incendium.

Almost a year ago to the day, Frontier Developments launched Elite Dangerous: Arena—a repackaged standalone version of Elite Dangerous' competitive dogfighting Close Quarters Combat game mode. Now, the developer has pulled Arena from Steam, it's own store and the Xbox Games Store.
