Soviet Union had it`s fair share of problems like any country in the world, but all the super state they built was just necessary. It was a socialist country in a capitalist world, it`s just required national security to be a top priority.

Maybe, but after they became a superpower I'm not sure if that argument was still valid. I'm against authoritarianism, whether it's in the name of capitalism or socialism.
