Damn I am like you! I drink 3-4 cups per day because I love the taste so much.

After hearing this I might not ever give up. In fairness though, it's not like coffee is bad for you.

In the past coffee did not have any noticeable negative effects on me or I just didn't notice them. Somewhere along the way these effects became noticeably and kept increasing, mainly digestion problems and insomnia. I'm not saying coffee is the only culprit but it most certainly plays a role.

Also I'm not trying to preach to quit coffee but share my experience to those who may have problems or have thought of quitting. What really should be done is educate people of the addiction and make them understand it is something you won't notice happening. I always knew of the addiction but still the reality of the symptoms blew me away completely.

From what I have learned, the symptoms are very individual. Of course the amount  of caffein consumed daily varies a lot and for two reasons, strenght of coffee and the "cup" is not standardized properly it is very difficult to determine just how much caffein someone consumes. I measured it and I drank 900ml per day on average which translated to 648mg caffein per day. It should also be known that for a person who drinks daily, it means his/her body is under the effect of caffein 24/7 and for this reason it is impossible for the person to notice the complete effect of caffein since it has become the norm.

In the OP I talked about coffee not subduing me anymore and saying it was really hard to put that feeling into words. Well today I've kinda found it, at least part of it why I feel different. I really cannot describe it much better but my entire body is just a bit more relax and it is noticeable 100% of the time. Like using a knife, opening a bottle or just moving around. My body movements are not as snappy and stiff as they were before yet I never felt stiff or snappy when I drank coffee. From my point of view it is unbelievably interesting and scary what I have experienced since quitting coffee.

Huh...this reply sure did expand lol...

Very interesting to say the least. I actually do find it tough to fall asleep some nights but I have put that down to not being able to calm down once I am in bed. I tend to think a lot in bed.

Hmm this has given me food for thought. I love coffee and I love the social aspect of it also but I have felt over the last few years that I don't get the "Kick" from caffeine. Maybe it is becasue my body is completely immune to it?
