When you have over a 1000 games on Steam it becomes abit of a problem if i had to manually put the game into my PC and also finding the space to store them. Disks can get damaged or dirty. Its just more effort for alot less benefits. Also when i buy games i dont plan on reselling them so apart from reselling the games for practically nothing what are the other benefits you get from physical media? I have listed atleast 4 and i can mention many more while resale value is the only thing i can think of and maybe installing off the disk as the only benefits you can from disks.
Just to add games read faster off the hard drive and not the disk plus digital tends to be cheaper on PC and offer alot more flexibility with sales and you wont even need a player to play them which can also save you money.
I have many physical copy of games and even dating back to my NES and PS1 days. Honesty disks have only become a problem for me now.
