Gearbox survive the ACM disaster some years later and they gave us Homeworld Remastered and then Deserts of Kharak. They didn't do too well with Battleborn but that game itself wasn't really going well from the start. Still they have survived through the messes they have made.

If you're a single or two man dev team who toss out a cobbled together game and call it the Slaughtering Grounds, then accept no criticism and try slandering someone like Jim Sterling, then chances are you aren't going to make it out alive, especially for buying and using Unity assets that others have made.

I think HG's silence doesn't help things although as far as I know we don't really have sales data either.  I'd be curious how it's sold because that might be what allows them to continue with it.  They should still release info on their plans though.
