Even if this did happen, would it be a huge surprise? NG was an extremely well received game. NG was better reviewed than MGS3 and NGB was only slightly below MGS2 and above MGS.
I think some of us forget just how awesome NG was when it was released (that isn't to say it isn't awesome now because it is).
