Taking fees as a platform holder for which 3rd parties? the nearly 0 support they get and similar sales from them? selling exclusively to an audience of 10M when they could sell to a 10 times bigger audience is just stupid in all accounts. No one is talking about handhelds, they seem to still be doing ok on that front, but who knows for how long. |
Those that release games for platform, even there are only few of them on Wii U they still get fees, but that is just small part of benefit being platform holder for Nintendo. Again, Nintendo on its platform make biggest profit for its games, Nintendo on its platform make profit from hardware and peripheral, Nintendo with own platform have complete control over their plans and they basically can do whatever they want, they making they own rules.
Its funny how some people thing Nintendo will exit hardware business just because Wii U is failed, completely ignoring fact that last gen Nintendo had best selling console and had best selling generation of console hardware ever (Wii+DS sold around 255m units). One failed console doesnt mean nothing for Nintendo, they history is based on hits and misses, for instance people forget Virtual Boy but after Virtual Boy they had several sucufule handhelds.
