I am amazed that people in this thread actually think the Halo 4 campaign was good. I guess Halo really is in the hands of a new generation. Even when Halo 4 was released it was more hated than any game I have ever seen in my life and that's the official waypoint forums I am talking about. 343i were literally banning everybody and his mom because of the backlash.

As a fan since the beginning, it is the best campaign.....if you read the books.

Most Halo fans are multiplayer centric, and play the campaigns for what they are and don't look deeper......they can't even bother to google the extended universe.

Halo 1-3 had a plot our grandmother could follow (at its core). Aliens threaten to wipe us out, the Flood are another alien that kills everything, and you are humanitys last hope. Fantastic.

Halo 4 however goes deep in the EU and thats where the so-called fans get confused. They prefer Chief stayed an unfeeling robot-soldier? They didn't like Cortana rampancy showing unfiltered emotions? The Didact meant nothing to them as he was just some random alien? People didn't like the cutting edge graphics and finally seeing Forerunner building that were active for a change? Guess people prefered inert structures from 1-3 and didn't like seeing Prometheans at all......considering how important they were during the Flood-Forerunner war (sign).

As someone who read the Forerunner novels, the DIdact was an epic moment for me.....I finally saw him! I hung onto his every word. Dripping with references to the novels. The final battle aboard his ship, with the soundtrack title "Arrival" playing.........it was like the human-forerunner wars were back. But THIS time, humans would win. This time, the Didact wouldn't decimate humanity like they did milenia ago. That songs crecendo gave the player hope that this time, humanity will win, that you are the hero of humanity and the Librarian was right to trust in you.

Halo 4 begun the process to weed out the so-called lore fans. The most popular retort is "but the games should stand on their own". No. Look what happened to Star Wars. Decades of extended universe......RETCONNED. Because the majority of fans only watched the movies and couldn't be bothered to delve into the lore. I am glad 343 won't make the same mistake.
